What is

Interstitial Healthcare?

in·ter·sti·tial
/ˌin(t)ərˈstiSH(ə)l/

(adjective)
means ‘living in the spaces between’… and hence Interstitial Healthcare™️ means existing in between all of the traditional nodes of healthcare.

The concept of Interstitial Healthcare™️ was invented by Olivia Svrchek, FNP, MS, and Jeffrey Pollard, MD in January of 2023 to help propagate the idea that the current siloed healthcare paradigm leads to communication breakdown and loss of critical information—a problem that can be fixed through the establishment of a single, dynamic, and all-encompassing layer of support that extends to and wraps around all of the major stakeholders and entities that make up the healthcare ecosystem. As such, Interstitial Healthcare™️ (with its present and future components) enhances knowledge and information transfer between patients, families, caregivers, clinicians, payers, employers, clinical trial sponsors, and others—allowing optimally informed choices to be made at every step of a patient’s healthcare journey.

ShadowNurse™️ is the first and most important Interstitial Healthcare™️ component—supporting all of the key patient experiences in and around medical visits and hospitalizations, including most importantly, the communication and handling of vital information, but also care-plan adherence, healthy behavior monitoring, medication reconciliation and compliance, care navigation, logistics, and more. ShadowNurse’s unprecedented advantage, and critical point of differentiation and leverage, is becoming ‘part of the family’ and being ‘live inside’ the medical visit.

As an Interstitial Healthcare component, ShadowNurse lives outside of the traditional healthcare system and thus operates in a more fluid and ubiquitous manner – providing the most high quality, comprehensive, and accessible medical support to patients, families, and stakeholders across the healthcare continuum.
